About Vet
Dr. Melissa Magnotta is a compassionate veterinarian with more than 13 years of experience in general practice, surgery, community medicine, and shelter medicine. After earning her undergraduate degree from Quinnipiac University in 2004 and her DVM from Oklahoma State University in 2012, she has continued to advance her skills, becoming both Fear Free certified and a Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Veterinarian. These specialties allow her to prioritize not only physical comfort but also the emotional well-being of pets during every stage of life. A lifelong advocate for service, Dr. Magnotta grew up participating in community fundraisers and nonprofit events—a value instilled by her mother that she now carries into her veterinary career. Whether working locally in Connecticut or volunteering abroad, she regularly donates her time and expertise to rescue groups and municipal shelters, offering care to animals who need it most. Her deep belief that every animal feels pain, joy, anxiety, and love guides her approach to medicine. Dr. Magnotta is especially dedicated to supporting families through end-of-life care. She views in-home euthanasia as a final act of love—an opportunity to provide comfort, dignity, and peace in a familiar setting. Her mission is to help pets transition gently while giving families the space to honor their bond and celebrate a life well lived.

Pet euthanasia and cremation pricing in Torrington, CT

Your credit card is required to reserve your appointment. However, no payment is required until the appointment and nothing is due until the appointment is completed

We charge cancellation fee of $100 if an appointment is cancelled less than 4 hours before the start time. If your pet passes away before your appointment you would not be charged a cancellation fee. If the vet you scheduled is able, and you would like their assistance with cremation, then pickup fee would apply instead of euthanasia fee

Other Consideration

If you have a larger pet, your vet may need the help of one friend or family member. Talk to your vet about options and limitations when they reach out to you prior to your appointment, and they will inform you of any extra cost for your situation.

Options for your pets return home and memorabilia depend on your local provider. Your vet coordinate the return of your pet’s ashes and let you know if there are additional fees for urn delivery.

Extra time or medications needed can affect the total price. Other factors can be if it is decided that it’s not time to euthanize your pet after the vet has arrive. In that case, only the travel fee, platform fee, and a quality of life consult would apply.

FAQs

The total cost includes the in-home pet euthanasia service fee, any travel fee (if any apply), and a platform fee. Additionally, depending on your choice, fees may apply for cremation services or keepsakes.

During your appointment, your vet will confirm your aftercare selection with you. If you choose to arrange cremation services, your vet will oversee your pet’s transportation to a local facility for cremation. If your preferred cremation option includes the return of your pet’s ashes to you, your vet will discuss the process to reunite you with your pet's ashes and the anticipated time frame during your appointment

Yes, upon arrival the veterinarian will assess your pet. This can look different than an “nose to tail” examination in a clinic setting and will focus more on the pet’s history and quality of life.

It is not uncommon to have doubts about whether the time is right. If you’ve taken the Quality of Life Questionnaire and are still unsure, we recommend consulting with your family veterinarian before scheduling an appointment.

Rest assured, if you book an appointment, your in-home euthanasia veterinarian will let you know if they do not believe that euthanasia is appropriate at this time.

You can expect your veterinarian to be in your home from 20-60 minutes, depending on how much of that time you need or want throughout the process.

In home pet euthanasia with CodaPet’s network of veterinarians provides loving, end-of-life care when you need it most. Once you schedule a visit online, you will receive a confirmation, and your vet will make sure everything is arranged with care and clarity.

When your vet arrives, they’ll begin with a gentle assessment to reassure you of your decision and answer any questions you may have. Your vet will always move at your pace, giving you the time and space you need to say goodbye in your own way.

When you are ready, your vet will gently administer a sedative so your pet can relax and drift into a deep, peaceful sleep. After the sedation has fully taken effect, a final, humane medication is given, allowing for a calm and painless passing surrounded by love.

If you choose aftercare, your vet will respectfully care for your pet and transport them for cremation, handling every step with dignity and compassion.

In home euthanasia with CodaPet’s network of veterinarians in Torrington and the surrounding areas begins at around $300. Your final cost may vary based on your pet’s size, your location, and any additional services you choose—such as private or communal cremation, ashes returned in an urn, or personalized keepsakes.

When scheduling a vet visit to your home, you’ll first receive a detailed, upfront price estimate according to your specific needs before confirming a visit. If you have questions or need support at any point, you can call (959) 202-2137.

Dr. Kelli sat on the floor with me, my husband and my beloved Doodles. Doodles was comfortable in her dog bed. Dr. Kelly verified Doodles medical condition. Dr. Kelli reviewed the procedure so that we knew what to expect and could ask any questions we had. Then I gave Doodles some hamburger while Dr. Kelli gave the first shot. Dr. Kelli made this experience as good as it could have been. Obviously I wished that this was not necessary and I still had my Doodles. I highly recommend Dr. Kelli.

We had a wonderful experience with CodaPet and Sarah Clem. Sarah was kind and compassionate. She listened to us ramble on about our beloved Dillon. She explained the procedure and what to expect. She gave us time to say our goodbyes before she started the procedure and gave us time alone with Dillon after his passing. It was so much nicer for him to be at home in his bed vs vet office. It was a very peaceful passing. Highly recommended CodaPet and Sarah Clem.

Dr. Alicia made our in home pet euthanasia experience beautiful. We didn’t want to say goodbye to our beloved pup, Calvin, but it was time for him to cross the Rainbow Bridge. Dr. Alicia contacted us in advance, communicated exactly what would happen, and asked our preferences for what we wanted. She arrived on time and spent almost two hours with us, assuring Calvin was comfortable and we were supported. She asked us about Calvin, and grieved with us. She treated him, and us, with care and respect. She followed up a few times after his passing to check on our well being. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We’ve already given her name and number to two friends with aging pups.

We decided to do an in home pet euthanasia when it was time to say goodbye to our Bella. We spared her a final stressful visit to the vet. Bella was comfortable, at home, and surrounded by everything familiar. Dr. Mary Juber was so kind. She was respectful and gentle and talked us through everything and made a difficult process as peaceful as it can be. She showed our pet respect and gentleness from start to finish and showed all of us great kindness. I cannot recommend Dr. Juber and CodaPet at home pet euthanasia more highly. We will never use another method again.

We’ve both been through this many times. Each of our pups and one cat have all had their own personalities and we’ve loved them like they were our kids. (Yes, we’re the DINK couple that, when new parents would tell cute stories about their progeny, we’d respond by showing some of the thousand pics of Bingo on our phones. But with pups, a hundred thousand hours of happiness will always end in a few, tremendously sad hours. I know the story’s end from “Chapter 1; The Adoption”. That’s why I need to say this; there are super special people in this world who perform the task. In the past, we’ve gone to the vet’s office which was fine in its way but then we learned of veterinarians who come into your home. We’ve done this twice now and despite how much we like and respect our vets the kindness, compassion, sympathy and professionalism of the traveling vets has been overwhelming. They’ve laughed and cried with us. They’ve made paw prints. They listened and assured us we were making the right decision. So a huge THANKS to Dr. Jessica Mumm with Coda Pet who guided Waffles to the Rainbow Bridge yesterday. Waffles, say hi to Meka. I know you two are goofing off and having an exciting and pain-free reunion. Meka, introduce Waffles to Bob and Finnigan and Bingo. Have fun. Eat tasty stuff and bark at squirrels. We’ll see you all when it’s our time.
