FAQs

The total cost includes the in-home pet euthanasia service fee, any travel fee (if any apply), and a platform fee. Additionally, depending on your choice, fees may apply for cremation services or keepsakes.

During your appointment, your vet will confirm your aftercare selection with you. If you choose to arrange cremation services, your vet will oversee your pet’s transportation to a local facility for cremation. If your preferred cremation option includes the return of your pet’s ashes to you, your vet will discuss the process to reunite you with your pet's ashes and the anticipated time frame during your appointment

Yes, upon arrival the veterinarian will assess your pet. This can look different than an “nose to tail” examination in a clinic setting and will focus more on the pet’s history and quality of life.

It is not uncommon to have doubts about whether the time is right. If you’ve taken the Quality of Life Questionnaire and are still unsure, we recommend consulting with your family veterinarian before scheduling an appointment.

Rest assured, if you book an appointment, your in-home euthanasia veterinarian will let you know if they do not believe that euthanasia is appropriate at this time.

You can expect your veterinarian to be in your home from 20-60 minutes, depending on how much of that time you need or want throughout the process.

We had to say goodbye to our nearly sixteen year old cat, Popcorn, after she suddenly was diagnosed as terminally ill and was clearly suffering and wouldn't eat, even with appetite stimulants among other meds. Dr. Dawn Fitzhugh came out the day after we set up the appointment and was just wonderful. She was so kind and empathetic and explained everything that was going on extremely well every step of the way, allowing Popcorn to pass with dignity in the comfort of her own home. Dr. Dawn was just who we needed on one of the hardest days of our lives, I can't say enough good about her and the at home pet euthanasia service.

Dr. Briell Dzierga is an amazing veterinarian who performed a very calm, thoughtful and caring service last week as my loving pet, Paisley, crossed the rainbow bridge. Dr. Dzierga performed the same caring service when my son chose in home euthanasia last month for his elderly pet. She calmly guides the owner and loving pet through a very difficult transition. Dr. Dzierga is wonderful.

We cannot say enough about the compassion and care we received from Dr. Phillips during one of the most difficult moments of our lives. From the time she entered our home, she was truly heaven-sent. She thoroughly explained every step of the process, which brought us so much comfort and peace. She was incredibly gentle with our sweet boy, Skipper, who was always so anxious, and treated him with the utmost care and respect. She gave my husband and me all the time we needed to say our goodbyes in the comfort of our home, never rushing us for a moment. From beginning to end, her presence was calm, kind, and truly angelic. We will never be able to fully express how grateful we are for such an intimate and peaceful experience. It meant everything to us.

Dr. Rizzo was so very compassionate, knowing when to talk or be silent, explaining every step of the way before proceeding, being present or leaving us a few moments to be by ourselves. Saying goodbye to my little buddy was the hardest but kindest thing to do, and in home pet euthanasia truly helped.

Saying good-bye to my beloved cat and having to have him put to sleep was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. Margaret was so kind and compassionate. Having her come to my home was truly a blessing. If anyone is ever in this situation, I highly recommend Codapet.

Saying goodbye to my baby was hard enough…but when you you know your baby is suffering and there is no turning back, the decision to do an At Home Euthanasia was far better than taking my baby to a vet. I was able to hold him, talked to him in an environment that he was familiar.
