Verified Veterinarian
I decided I wanted to become a veterinarian before I even know it was a thing. I told my mom I would be a doctor but for animals, and was mildly disappointed to find out this was not a novel idea, but my determination did not waiver. After a year into my first job post-residency I took a break from veterinary medicine - and was not sure I would return. Then I stumbled upon a job providing in-home end-of-life care and rediscovered my passion for helping pets and the families that love them. Everyone assumes euthanasia is the worst part of being a veterinarian, and don't get me wrong, it is of course sad. It is also an honor to witness such love between people and their pets when present for such an important moment in their relationship.
