My perspective on end-of-life care also became deeply personal when my father entered hospice. As one of his primary caregivers, I experienced the emotional weight of anticipating a loved one's passing, making difficult decisions, and wanting every moment to be as peaceful and dignified as possible. That experience gave me a greater appreciation for hospice professionals who cared not only for my father, but also for our family. It reinforced my belief that end-of-life care is about more than the patient, it is about supporting the people who love them. Today, when I help families through a pet's final moments, I carry that understanding with me. I know that compassion, presence, and clear communication can profoundly shape how families remember one of the hardest days of their lives.
