Verified Veterinarian
My beloved dog, who saw me through veterinary school, the move to Germany, and through the birth of our first 2 daughters, was dying of cancer. She hated going to the veterinarian. A veterinarian friend came to help her pass at home. Experiencing this tremendous loss, where Roly and my husband and I were most comfortable, made that incredibly hard day the littlest bit easier. I knew that this gift was something I'd someday provide to other pets. That was in 2005 and upon retiring from the Army, I began to offer this service to help other pets and their people.

We had to say goodbye to our nearly sixteen year old cat, Popcorn, after she suddenly was diagnosed as terminally ill and was clearly suffering and wouldn't eat, even with appetite stimulants among other meds. Dr. Dawn Fitzhugh came out the day after we set up the appointment and was just wonderful. She was so kind and empathetic and explained everything that was going on extremely well every step of the way, allowing Popcorn to pass with dignity in the comfort of her own home. Dr. Dawn was just who we needed on one of the hardest days of our lives, I can't say enough good about her and the at home pet euthanasia service.
Dr Dawn Fitzhugh was an incredible comfort to all of us during Phineas’s final hour. She has a deeper understanding of the physical and emotional aspects of the death process than any general practice vet I’ve ever worked with, and explained every step patiently and compassionately. I’m forever grateful to her for easing my sweet boy’s suffering.
We couldn’t have asked for a more compassionate, kind, understanding person to guide us through that really tough day. Dr. Dawn was so gentle and caring toward Lucy, our cat. She truly made that emotional passage for us and Lucy a calm, meaningful experience.
Dr. Dawn was absolutely amazing, she was extremely compassionate and walked us through every step of our cat's transition, she didn't rush the process and was very very kind. I absolutely would recommend her again
Dr. Dawn was phenomenal. She took excellent care of our family and our kitty boy. Compassionate end-of-life care for him and kindness and patience with his humans. Can’t say enough good things - Dr. Dawn transformed a terrible decision into a grace-filled transition.
