During your appointment, your vet will confirm your aftercare selection with you. If you choose to arrange cremation services, your vet will oversee your pet’s transportation to a local facility for cremation. If your preferred cremation option includes the return of your pet’s ashes to you, your vet will discuss the process to reunite you with your pet's ashes and the anticipated time frame during your appointment
Yes, upon arrival the veterinarian will assess your pet. This can look different than an “nose to tail” examination in a clinic setting and will focus more on the pet’s history and quality of life.
It is not uncommon to have doubts about whether the time is right. If you’ve taken the Quality of Life Questionnaire and are still unsure, we recommend consulting with your family veterinarian before scheduling an appointment.
Rest assured, if you book an appointment, your in-home euthanasia veterinarian will let you know if they do not believe that euthanasia is appropriate at this time.
You can expect your veterinarian to be in your home from 20-60 minutes, depending on how much of that time you need or want throughout the process.

The process was simple and comfortable for our old boy. Dr. Poole explained every step clearly and was a caring steward for his passing. I can’t imagine having to do such a hard thing in a less private way. If you had the choice to die in an unfamiliar hospital bed or in your chosen space what would you decide? If the situation cant be helped then so be it, but if you can control it you likely won’t regret this choice.
My girlfriend and I were devastated when we learned our 8-year-old cat Sadie had renal lymphoma and that her kidneys were rapidly failing. The diagnosis was completely unexpected, and our poor baby's decline was unbelievably fast. Not wanting to stress Sadie and take her to a strange place for her final moments with us, we looked into in home pet euthanasia. We learned about CodaPet from Google, but our veterinarian also recommended Codapet when I called to ask for best recommendations for in home pet euthanasia. We reached out to CodaPet and Dr. Melisa Magnotta. Dr. Magnotta was so kind and understanding. We made arrangements over the phone for Sadie to be euthanized at home and Dr. Magnotta encouraged us to reach out with any questions, or if we felt Sadie needed to be assisted before the set time we had intended. Sadly, Sadie's quality of life deteriorated exponentially faster than we had anticipated and we needed to have her euthanized as soon as possible. We reached out to Dr. Magnotta in the morning and told her about the situation and asked if she was able to help us at her earliest convenience. Dr. Magnotta was understanding and was able to come quickly. She was so compassionate and kind. Dr. Magnotta explained the procedure to us and assured us that our poor girl would not feel pain, and that we were making the right decision. While the pain of having to part with our pet was inescapable, Dr. Magnotta and CodaPet gave us the calmest and most peaceful experience for Sadie we could have hoped for. When looking into at home pet euthanasia, do not hesitate to reach out to CodaPet.
I prayed for a peaceful, calm and the feeling of knowing we are doing the right thing and our prayers were answered. Dr. Ayala was there with us to make my long companion cat, Zen’s final minutes with us. She explained everything before hand and her timing for each step was perfect. She knows how to read the room. She has the knowing and I believe it’s her calling for all of us pet owners to have her available for us. I will never regret this experience. Thank you Dr. Ayala.
I was so happy to have this option as my dog (pitty mix) was unable to walk unaided the last few days. I agonized over making the “final”appointment with my regular vet. I was able to get my appointment with Codapet the same day and Charlie was able to be home, in his bed with me by his side. Dr. Jen was friendly and listened to my concerns and offered so much support and compassion. Charlie passed peacefully in our home. I would highly recommend this service and Dr. Jen to any pet parent saying goodbye to their fur baby. Thanks again!
Dr. Caroline Christoff came to our house to help send our Mayzy home. She was so kind to my wife and me, but more importantly she was gentle and kind with our girl. She didn’t rush the process at all and gave us plenty of time with our girl to grieve. She let me help wrap up my girl in her favorite blanket, place her on the stretcher and carry her out to the truck and say goodbye again. Mayzy was in her back seat and the truck was warm. It was nice to know Mayzy was never alone the whole time. Thank you again Caroline.
Dr. Dawn was the most kind and compassionate vet I’ve ever worked with. She has the biggest heart and talks you through every step you take make sure you can grieve and help your pet pass peacefully. I couldn’t imagine having to do this any other way than in our own home surrounded by family and our other dog.
