FAQs
The total cost includes the in-home pet euthanasia service fee, any travel fee (if any apply), and a platform fee. Additionally, depending on your choice, fees may apply for cremation services or keepsakes.
During your appointment, your vet will confirm your aftercare selection with you. If you choose to arrange cremation services, your vet will oversee your pet’s transportation to a local facility for cremation. If your preferred cremation option includes the return of your pet’s ashes to you, your vet will discuss the process to reunite you with your pet's ashes and the anticipated time frame during your appointment
Yes, upon arrival the veterinarian will assess your pet. This can look different than an “nose to tail” examination in a clinic setting and will focus more on the pet’s history and quality of life.
It is not uncommon to have doubts about whether the time is right. If you’ve taken the Quality of Life Questionnaire and are still unsure, we recommend consulting with your family veterinarian before scheduling an appointment.
Rest assured, if you book an appointment, your in-home euthanasia veterinarian will let you know if they do not believe that euthanasia is appropriate at this time.
You can expect your veterinarian to be in your home from 20-60 minutes, depending on how much of that time you need or want throughout the process.

Dr. Derecka Alexander was the kindest and most patient. She gave us and our Lucy time to go through the process. She was caring with our Lucy and with us. She explained every step. Thank you for helping us in this very difficult time.
We were crushed to have to put down our 3.5 year old cat, Franklin/Frank/Frankie/Fwank/Mr. Frankers. I made an appointment with Dr. Renee Schott very easily online via Codapet. Communication was smooth via text. She was both empathetic and professional and kept Frankie as comfortable as possible. She answered all of our questions and wasn't rushed even though it was late in the day. Highly recommended. Thank you Dr. Schott!
I am so happy I chose CODA for my cat’s recent euthanasia. Dr Vosburg was very compassionate and caring. I would gladly recommend their services to anyone facing this choice.
Dr Allison was amazing. She made one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make bearable. She sat in my bedroom with me and my kitty the entire time. She never once rushed me and she explained every last detail of what she was doing and what nessie (my kitty) was experiencing/feeling. She sat with me even when Nessie had passed…not saying a word but just being there for me. She carried Nessie away all bundled up in a beautiful little pet basket. Nessie rode up front with her all the way to the funeral home and she texted me when she arrived to let me know Nessie was safe. She hand delivered Nessie back home. She hugged me tight and reassured me that I made the right decision. A few days later I got a handwritten card from her expressing her condolences. She has checkin in on me a number of times. I couldn’t have done this all without her. She is just wonderful!
We recently had to put down our cat of almost 14 years. We couldn't have asked for a better way for her to pass. Dr. Mumm was very transparent and professional about the process and took her time. She went above and beyond with her kindness by and even made some keepsakes. We recommend her to anyone that has to make this difficult decision. We are so thankful that she helped our cat pass as peaceful as possible in a spot were she was calm and comfortable.
Losing a pet is never easy but this was a very compassionate experience and a peace of mind that my fur baby was in her comfort zone and not traumatized by having to go to the vet. Very peaceful.
