FAQs
The total cost includes the in-home pet euthanasia service fee, any travel fee (if any apply), and a platform fee. Additionally, depending on your choice, fees may apply for cremation services or keepsakes.
During your appointment, your vet will confirm your aftercare selection with you. If you choose to arrange cremation services, your vet will oversee your pet’s transportation to a local facility for cremation. If your preferred cremation option includes the return of your pet’s ashes to you, your vet will discuss the process to reunite you with your pet's ashes and the anticipated time frame during your appointment
Yes, upon arrival the veterinarian will assess your pet. This can look different than an “nose to tail” examination in a clinic setting and will focus more on the pet’s history and quality of life.
It is not uncommon to have doubts about whether the time is right. If you’ve taken the Quality of Life Questionnaire and are still unsure, we recommend consulting with your family veterinarian before scheduling an appointment.
Rest assured, if you book an appointment, your in-home euthanasia veterinarian will let you know if they do not believe that euthanasia is appropriate at this time.
You can expect your veterinarian to be in your home from 20-60 minutes, depending on how much of that time you need or want throughout the process.

Our beloved dog, Oatmeal, had health problems from the time he was a puppy. We spent years going in and out of veterinary clinics trying to help him through immune issues, allergies, skin problems, digestive complications, even losing an eye at doggie daycare and more. In the last few years of his life, his health became even more complicated and everyday life became harder for him. We were at appointments constantly for bloodwork, medication adjustments, prescription food changes, surgeries, exploratory procedures and lots of specialist visits. It often felt less like we were finding answers and more like we were ruling things out or uncovering yet another condition to manage. It was emotionally exhausting and despite everyone’s best efforts, our sweet 13 year old best friend wasn’t truly getting better. Through it all, Oatmeal remained incredibly gentle and trusting. Even after years of appointments, pokes, tests and procedures, he stayed such a good sport. But eventually he developed an uncontrollable shake whenever he walked into a clinic because he was so fearful of what might happen there. Watching that heartbreak, while also seeing his gradual decline, made us realize we needed to make one final loving decision for him. Choosing euthanasia was one of the hardest things we have ever done but we knew we wanted it done on Oatmeal’s terms: - not in a clinic - not after an emergency or painful decline - while he could still enjoy life - with time to give him a beautiful final week doing everything he loved - and with one perfect last day surrounded by his family We were able to do all of that through CodaPet and Dr. Lori Schmalz. Booking online made the process easier because I honestly do not think I could have made it through a phone call without crying. The website explained the process thoroughly and when Dr. Schmalz arrived, she gently walked us through everything again and answered every question with compassion and patience. As heartbreaking as the moment was, it was also incredibly peaceful. There was no fear in Oatmeal’s eye and not an ounce of pain. In the end, he passed exactly how he always loved to spend his afternoons, asleep in the warm sun beside his kitty brother. He was in his favorite spot at home, surrounded by the people who loved him for 13 wonderful years. The experience felt completely different from any pet euthanasia we had gone through before. It was calm, loving and deeply humane. We miss Oatmeal more than words can express but there is also peace in knowing we did not wait until he was suffering through a crisis or rushed into an emergency clinic terrified and hurting. Instead, we were able to give him a beautiful final day filled with comfort, love, bacon, sunshine, his favorite toys and the two people he adored most. When he left this world, he felt safe, cherished and completely loved and we will always be grateful for that.
Marley and her sister, Cheyenne. Sweetest girl who loved playing ball. Thankful for Dr Ramos with CodaPet , she made our in home euthanasia which is normally hard for anyone, a sweet calm experience. It was good for our whole family that was able to be together and love on our Marley with no time constraints. Definitely with considering this company when that hard time arises.
What an amazing service! We are so grateful that Dr Devlin was able to make our Harlow's last moments so peaceful. I would highly recommend this to anyone. The convenience is great of course, but also knowing that your pet is relaxed and not being traumatized is worth every penny. They make it easy for you to spend your time with your pet, as it should be. Thank you again.
This was the first time we used a service that came to our home to euthanize a pet. Dr. Keri with CodaPet was calming and compassionate. She reviewed the process, let us know what to expect and kept us informed during each step. It's never easy to say good bye to a pet. CodaPet understands that and provided us the opportunity to have a peaceful good bye.
We are so grateful for Dr. Silberman and his gentle and kind touch. It was a very hard decision to say goodbye to my very loved 17 yr old cat. She was always nervous going in the car to the vet and I decided I didn't want her last hour to be that. I'm so happy I made the decision for her end of life to be in the comfort of her own home and in her own bed.
Dr. Dover was absolutely the best during this difficult time. She will never know how much I appreciated her kindness and thoughtfulness.
