Stacy W. on Dr. Alexis Strode: One of our fears about putting our dog down was how aggressive he had become and this really added to our stress. From the moment Dr. Smith came to the house the stress level went down. The process was much smoother than expected, the stress was gone and just became sadness with his passing. The lack of stress makes our loss much easier to handle.Thank you for making a sad day bearable.

Steve D. on Dr. Alexis Strode: We learned about Codapet from recommendations from my Facebook friends. Dr. Laura Smith was amazing from beginning to end. She was both professional and compassionate. All five of us (me, my wife, Dr Smith, Beau the toy poodle, and Barney) got onto the kingsized bed. The euthanasia was process was very fast. Barney never suffered. Dr Smith took Barney to the crematory. A week later, I picked up his ashes from our local vet. We sprinkled the ashes uner a large bush in corner of our back yard. If I ever have to do this again, I will use Codapet.

Amy Z. from St. Louis on Dr. Alexis Strode: I’m so glad Dr Strode came into our lives. Not only is she an amazing vet, giving us quality senior years of life through her care, and then in the end being there for us in the most tender way. I know my boy loved seeing her and I watched him relax when she came to help him cross.

New to Codapet

Meet Dr. Alexis Strode, a dedicated veterinarian specializing in in-home pet euthanasia services. Growing up in Labadie, MO, Dr. Strode always had a deep connection with animals and a passion for science. After completing her undergraduate studies at Truman State University in 2003, she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Missouri in 2007. Following a few years of practice in Kansas City, she returned to the St. Louis area, where she has been providing exceptional care to small animals ever since. In 2022, she founded The Well Balanced Animal, a practice focused on helping pets with mobility issues through alternative therapies such as chiropractic care and rehabilitation. Dr. Strode's commitment to her patients' well-being is evident in her holistic approach to veterinary care. Her experiences with her own geriatric dog, Riley, who passed away in 2023, deepened her understanding of the needs of senior pets. This empathy drives her to support families through the emotional process of end-of-life care. Dr. Strode believes that in-home euthanasia offers a peaceful and less stressful alternative to a clinic setting, allowing pets to transition in the comfort of their familiar surroundings, surrounded by loved ones. In her spare time, Dr. Strode enjoys the outdoors, spending quality time with her family, traveling, and indulging in fantasy fiction books. Her household is lively, with a Belgian Malinois named Django, who is trained in agility and loves her ball, and four cats—Chloe, Sofia, Angel, and Atlas—who bring joy and occasional chaos. Dr. Strode's unwavering dedication to reducing pain and stress in pets' lives, especially in their senior years, extends to providing compassionate and dignified end-of-life care for your beloved companions.

“Booking was online, and then follow-up calls and communications were made by Dr. Ellen. This is a wonderful service. There are limited times available so hopefully codapet will add more vets so people can schedule this service when needed. We were fortunate that the services were available when we needed them.” - Mary I., Sand Springs, October 30, 2026
