FAQs
The total cost includes the in-home pet euthanasia service fee, any travel fee (if any apply), and a platform fee. Additionally, depending on your choice, fees may apply for cremation services or keepsakes.
During your appointment, your vet will confirm your aftercare selection with you. If you choose to arrange cremation services, your vet will oversee your pet’s transportation to a local facility for cremation. If your preferred cremation option includes the return of your pet’s ashes to you, your vet will discuss the process to reunite you with your pet's ashes and the anticipated time frame during your appointment
Yes, upon arrival the veterinarian will assess your pet. This can look different than an “nose to tail” examination in a clinic setting and will focus more on the pet’s history and quality of life.
It is not uncommon to have doubts about whether the time is right. If you’ve taken the Quality of Life Questionnaire and are still unsure, we recommend consulting with your family veterinarian before scheduling an appointment.
Rest assured, if you book an appointment, your in-home euthanasia veterinarian will let you know if they do not believe that euthanasia is appropriate at this time.
You can expect your veterinarian to be in your home from 20-60 minutes, depending on how much of that time you need or want throughout the process.

Dr Lori Schmalz at CodaPet is an Angel. She was recommended by our vet for our difficult situation of saying goodbye to our Beloved BJ. She came to our home during a snow storm and helped us say goodbye with love and dignity and compassion. She offers respect and space for the last goodbye. I can't believe how wonderful she is in such a sad time. In-home pet euthanasia was such a sweet and personal goodbye with BJ. Her attention to the detail of our relationship was wonderful. Thank You Dr Lori for your heartfelt help on one of the saddest days of our lives. Sincerely, Tommy & Cheryl Tittsworth
This was the best possible experience I could have had with having to put down my 15 year old cat and wanted to take a moment to thank Dr. Natasha Novik and CodaPet for this service. I woke up at 2am on 5/5 and had to make a hard decision. In my case, I was able to schedule an appointment that same day with appointments as early as 8:00am, the prices are very clearly listed and depending on the vet it will list whether they offer cremation services, etc. The website was extremely easy to use and the instructions were very straight forward...so naturally I expected something to go wrong :) . Nothing did. Natasha was extremely kind and took me through the entire process slowly and with care and my friend passed away comfortable and at home. She asked anytime she needed to move or manipulate him and explained why she was doing things as well as possible consequences or reactions to prepare. She allowed us to take all the time we needed before respectfully and gently taking him away. If the timing is right and you are able I would highly recommend this service.
So glad there are people in this world who can help us let go of our fur babies without being scary or clinical. Thank you Thank you. Miss Laura you are an Angel.
We couldn't have been more blessed to have such a compassionate and caring person to help us through such a sad time. We've had to help a lot of pets cross the rainbow bridge over the years and Dr. Mary absolutely made this the best experience we could have hoped for. He passed in peace and comfort and it was all thanks to her, we would highly recommend.
From the very second Dr. Norman walked into the apartment, we were put at ease during the very difficult and devastating situation we were going through. The decision to have an at home crossing of the rainbow for our dog was such a hard experience to begin with, and Dr. Norman made the whole experience glide as peacefully and lovingly and humanely as we could have ever wished. She was extremely informative and professional, and at the same time seamlessly made us smile and talk about the good days and wonderful memories as she walked us through the experience in the best way possible. We highly recommend Dr. Norman if you are faced with the sad circumstance of your pup needing to pass away. She will make it be as smooth a process as you could ever wish in that moment. Thank you Dr. Norman so much for your expertise and kindness and just amazing professionalism and empathy.
My pup of 16 years became ill and we had to make the difficult choice to let her rest. Dr. Mumm was exceptional: she answered my 10 years old’s many questions, was patient, and made me feel listened to and comfortable. I knew my best friend was in good hands and the last hour of her life was warm and safe. Thank you for providing my family with such good care.
