Originally hailing from the beautiful state of North Carolina, Dr. Brittany Southern embarked on her veterinary journey at Tuskegee University in Alabama, where she earned her veterinary degree in 2013. Following graduation, she embarked on a diverse career path, beginning with a small animal rotating internship and later transitioning to the role of an emergency clinician. Driven by her passion for animal welfare, she delved into the field of laboratory animal medicine, advocating for the well-being of animals used in research settings. Beyond her professional pursuits, Dr. Southern finds joy and fulfillment in the loving embrace of her family. Blessed to share her life with her husband, who shares her passion for veterinary medicine, as well as their two young children, she cherishes every moment spent together. Whether learning the art of gardening, experimenting with new recipes, or exploring the great outdoors of North Florida, Dr. Southern thrives in the company of her loved ones. At home, Dr. Southern's furry companions enrich her life with their unconditional love and playful antics. From two cats who chose her family, including a former clinic cat with a penchant for her husband, to an easygoing black Labrador and a spirited Doberman Pinscher, their household is filled with warmth and companionship. Dr. Southern's dedication to animals extends beyond her home, as she endeavors to provide compassionate end-of-life care through in-home euthanasia, recognizing the profound comfort it brings to families during their time of need.
