I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, and now I am grateful to call San Diego home. It is especially meaningful to provide care for pets and families in the same community where I have built my own life. As a veterinarian, I have helped families navigate emotionally complex decisions about their pets’ health and care. My experience has taught me to bring calm, clarity, and thoughtful guidance during difficult moments. With additional training in counseling and supportive communication, I strive to create a respectful space where families feel heard and supported. I share my home with my husband and our grey tabby, Sterling, a quirky and shy cat who becomes social once he feels comfortable. I also carry the memory of Harvest, my beloved cat who is no longer physically with us but remains an important part of our family. Loving and saying goodbye to my own pet has deepened my understanding of how profound that loss can be and how meaningful it is to honor the bond that remains. In my free time, I try to stay active most days, whether that means going to a local fitness studio, rolling out my mat to practice yoga, or simply stepping outside to feel the sunshine on my face. I also enjoy cooking nutritious meals at home and getting lost in a good book. Whenever I can, I make time to appreciate the natural world around me, whether by taking a walk or relaxing at the beach, spending time in a neighborhood park, or heading out for a hike.

Dr. Silva grew up in the mountains of Lake Tahoe, where she developed a deep love for the outdoors and animals of all kinds. She earned her undergraduate degree from Chico State University in 2011, spending those years as a ranch hand on a large cattle operation in Northern California, where she learned the value of practical, hands-on animal care. In 2012, she moved to the island of St. Kitts to attend Ross University, earning her DVM in 2016. She launched her career with East County Large Animal Practice in San Diego before transitioning to small animal medicine in 2019, bringing over 10 years of experience spanning equine, general practice, urgent care, and small animal emergency. Dr. Silva's decade of clinical work gave her a front-row seat to the realities of pet loss, and through those experiences she developed a deeply individualized approach to end-of-life care. She focuses on supporting each family's emotional, spiritual, and social needs, easing the anxiety around loss and creating space for a peaceful transition. Her guiding philosophy is to neither hasten nor postpone death, while honoring and strengthening the bond between pets and their people. She believes the decision to provide a peaceful passing is one of the most compassionate choices a pet parent can make, and she considers it an honor to be entrusted with that moment. Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Silva lives in Ramona with her husband and two young children. She's an avid horseback rider, artist working in graphite and acrylic, and fitness enthusiast who loves gardening, fishing, desert trips, boating on the Colorado River, and watching her kids grow up. Her household includes two border collies, Dexter (13) and Duner (7), and a rescued stray kitty named Opah (2).

“The online booking process was very easy and straightforward during a time when we had so much on our minds. I really appreciated that they made it clear that I could reach out if I had any questions or needed anything. Knowing that support was available and that we could ask questions along the way gave us some comfort during such a difficult and emotional time.” - Berenice G., Visalia, October 9, 2026
