Dr. Amy Lutgen DeWitt was born in Indiana and moved to Wisconsin at a young age, where her passion for animals and science first took root. She earned her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire before completing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. For the past 20 years, she has devoted her career to caring for small animals and currently lives in Charlestown, Indiana, with her husband, three children, and two beloved dogs. Throughout her years in practice, Dr. DeWitt has cherished the meaningful relationships she has formed with pets and the families who love them. Witnessing the profound human–animal bond has been the most rewarding part of her work. She believes that saying goodbye to a beloved companion should be as gentle, peaceful, and dignified as the love they were shown throughout their life — ideally in the comfort of home, where they feel safe and at ease. Outside of veterinary medicine, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling — especially to Disney World and St. Germain, Wisconsin — and relaxing with a good book. She shares her home with Astro, a long-haired Chihuahua gifted by a longtime client, and Nala, a Standard Poodle adopted through rescue. Dr. Amy Lutgen DeWitt is dedicated to bringing comfort and peace to pets and their families during their final moments together.
