Schedule a licensed veterinarian to provide a peaceful passing for your beloved pet in the comfort of your home, surrounded by loved ones.
Initial Contact
Your vet will reach out to you prior to your appointment to answer any questions you may have and address any special circumstances or concerns.
At-Home Assessment
Your vet will make an assessment of your pet’s health and quality of life to provide guidance to ensure your decision is informed.
Pre-Medication
The veterinarian will administer an initial sedative or anesthetic to help your pet relax and become pain-free, ensuring they are comfortable and at ease.
Euthanasia
The veterinarian will first ensure your pet is fully sedated before gently administering anesthesia which will quickly slow down your pet’s respiratory system until the heart finally stops beating. In most cases, this process takes less than a minute.
Travel Fee
This reflects the cost associated with the distance a licensed vet will need to travel should your location fall outside their regular service area.
Platform Fee
A small percentage of the total supports vets with non-medical items, allowing them to spend more time caring for pets.

Pet Weight
The size of your pet determines the amount of medication needed to provide a peaceful passing as well the cremation services, if you select any.
Large Pets (over 24 lbs)
Each licensed veterinarian determines their pricing and weight limits. Large pet fees may apply.
Cremation and Keepsakes
The cost will vary based on your choice of cremation services with or without your pet's ashes returned. A variety of keepsakes are available depending on your cremation selection and vet.

Questions you may have
The total cost includes the in-home pet euthanasia service fee, any applicable travel fees, and a platform fee. Depending on your preferences, additional fees may apply for cremation services or memorial keepsakes.
During your appointment, your vet will carefully confirm your preferred aftercare option with you. If you choose cremation, your vet will manage your pet’s gentle transportation to a local crematorium. If your selected cremation service includes receiving your pet’s ashes, your vet will clearly explain the process for returning your pet's ashes and provide an estimated timeline for their return.
You have the option to have your vet respectfully transport your pet to the crematorium. Depending on your preference, your pet’s ashes can either be lovingly returned to you or respectfully spread with other pets.
Note: If you choose to have your pet’s ashes returned to you, your vet will coordinate the return of your pet’s ashes at the time of your appointment.
We allow cancellations at no fee to you for appointments canceled more than 4 hours before your start time. If you cancel your appointment less than 4 hours before your appointment time you will be subject to a cancellation fee of $100.
Your vet reserves time in their schedule exclusively for you, so we ask you to cancel as soon as you are able so that your vet may help another family in need.

If your pet passes naturally before your scheduled euthanasia appointment, you may cancel at any time prior to your vet's arrival without incurring any fees. If you'd still like assistance arranging transportation for cremation, you can request your vet provide a deceased pet pick-up and cremation services.

Yes, your vet will offer a variety of meaningful memorabilia you can purchase if you choose to request the return of your pet's ashes. After selecting your vet and preferred cremation option, you'll have the opportunity to review and choose from available keepsake options. You may also find comfort in exploring our suggestions for pet memorial ideas.
Note: You may also choose to add the memorabilia or change your mind about your choice at the time of your appointment.
In the case of wanting a private burial, if your city/county regulations allow, you can choose to bury your pet. Please check local regulations to see if this is legal in your area.
If you want to bury your pet in a cemetery, you will need to choose and make arrangements with a local pet cemetery before the euthanasia appointment. Please be sure to let your CodaPet vet know if you have planned for such a burial.

If you have a larger pet, your vet may need the help of a friend or family member. When your vet contacts you prior to your appointment, talk to them about options and limitations, and they will inform you of any extra cost for your situation.
Options for your pet's return home and memorabilia depend on your local provider. Your vet will coordinate the return of your pet’s ashes and let you know if there are additional fees for urn delivery.

We were lucky to have nine good years with our Bernese Mountain Dog, “Sansa”; however, when the end came, it came fast. Our vet recommended CodaPet, and I immediately booked the first appointment available. And while the decision to end Sansa’s suffering as soon as possible was easy; her actually dying was something else entirely. But what did make this utterly heartbreaking experience a little less painful, was the doctor we got: Lauren Ayala. When she arrived, she calmly and gently just “took it from there”. I can’t tell you how much this matters when you’re faced with such an overwhelming loss. Dr. Ayala had such a special way about her: not only giving Sansa the painless, gentle departure we wanted so badly, but she also provided us with just as much comfort. She isn’t just a good doctor; she’s the kind of person who genuinely cares for everyone involved. She understands completely that Sansa isn’t just our pet—she’s a family member. We got to spend our last few moments petting her and cradling her snout while Dr. Ayala talked us through everything that was happening and what to expect. We were never out of our pup’s line of sight, and I know that was exactly what she wanted; and for us to be able to do that, in our own home, and without having to move her, meant so much. The first injection was to sedate her, so she’d be unconscious. Sansa just closed her eyes, but her breathing let us know she was still with us. Laruen then let us know the euthanasia was going in. She didn’t feel a thing, It was peaceful. Everything about the process and how Dr. Ayala managed it all was the best we could possibly hope for. And as soon as Sansa passed, she stepped out for a bit so we could say goodbye. Losing a pet is just… hard. And honestly, it was only after some time passed and we could reflect on that day then when it dawned on us how truly fortunate we were to have Lauren there. She was so kind, so caring, and professional in a way that it almost went unnoticed that this is a doctor who has done all the prep, calculated all the medications, then flawlessly executed a procedure that really does take some serious skill. I would urge anyone considering in-home euthanasia to know that it’s worth every penny. Being with your pet in your own home really matters so much. Even if you (like us), can’t fully realize how important the little things matter until you’re able to look back on it later, trust me, you’ll be glad knowing you chose the best option when you were faced with such a difficult decision. We had to say goodbye to our pup Leo, who we had for 16 years, and it was one of the most painful things I ever had to do. Leo had advanced kidney disease and his health quickly deteriorated. We had scheduled a Coda Appointment with Dr. Derecka Alexander for a Tuesday, but Leo’s health took a turn for the worse on a Sunday. I emailed Coda Pet to ask if there was any possibility any Vet could come out sooner. Dr. Alexander immediately contacted me and made herself available in our time of need. We were so appreciative of Dr. Alexander’s compassion and kindness in helping our beloved pup Leo cross over the rainbow bridge, especially after it became urgent. She made a very difficult experience of us having to say goodbye to our pup more manageable. We chose to get a Vet to come to our home for our final goodbye to our Leo because we wanted him to be surrounded by the warmth of our love, the comfort of his family, and the smells and sounds he has always known.
