Initial Contact
Your vet will reach out to you prior to your appointment to answer any questions you may have and address any special circumstances or concerns.
At-Home Assessment
Your vet will make an assessment of your pet’s health and quality of life to provide guidance to ensure your decision is informed.
Pre-Medication
The veterinarian will administer an initial sedative or anesthetic to help your pet relax and become pain-free, ensuring they are comfortable and at ease.
Euthanasia
The veterinarian will first ensure your pet is fully sedated before gently administering anesthesia which will quickly slow down your pet’s respiratory system until the heart finally stops beating. In most cases, this process takes less than a minute.
Travel Fee
This reflects the cost associated with the distance a licensed vet will need to travel should your location fall outside their regular service area.
Platform Fee
A small percentage of the total supports vets with non-medical items, allowing them to spend more time caring for pets.

Cremation and Keepsakes
The cost will vary based on your choice of cremation services with or without your pet's ashes returned. A variety of keepsakes are available depending on your cremation selection and vet.

Questions you may have
The total cost includes the in-home pet euthanasia service fee, any applicable travel fees, and a platform fee. Depending on your preferences, additional fees may apply for cremation services or memorial keepsakes.
During your appointment, your vet will carefully confirm your preferred aftercare option with you. If you choose cremation, your vet will manage your pet’s gentle transportation to a local crematorium. If your selected cremation service includes receiving your pet’s ashes, your vet will clearly explain the process for returning your pet's ashes and provide an estimated timeline for their return.
You have the option to have your vet respectfully transport your pet to the crematorium. Depending on your preference, your pet’s ashes can either be lovingly returned to you or respectfully spread with other pets.
Note: If you choose to have your pet’s ashes returned to you, your vet will coordinate the return of your pet’s ashes at the time of your appointment.
We allow cancellations at no fee to you for appointments canceled more than 4 hours before your start time. If you cancel your appointment less than 4 hours before your appointment time you will be subject to a cancellation fee of $100.
Your vet reserves time in their schedule exclusively for you, so we ask you to cancel as soon as you are able so that your vet may help another family in need.

If your pet passes naturally before your scheduled euthanasia appointment, you may cancel at any time prior to your vet's arrival without incurring any fees. If you'd still like assistance arranging transportation for cremation, you can request your vet provide a deceased pet pick-up and cremation services.

Yes, your vet will offer a variety of meaningful memorabilia you can purchase if you choose to request the return of your pet's ashes. After selecting your vet and preferred cremation option, you'll have the opportunity to review and choose from available keepsake options. Note: You may also choose to add the memorabilia or change your mind about your choice at the time of your appointment.
In the case of wanting a private burial, if your city/county regulations allow, you can choose to bury your pet. Please check local regulations to see if this is legal in your area.
If you want to bury your pet in a cemetery, you will need to choose and make arrangements with a local pet cemetery before the euthanasia appointment. Please be sure to let your CodaPet vet know if you have planned for such a burial.

If you have a larger pet, your vet may need the help of a friend or family member. When your vet contacts you prior to your appointment, talk to them about options and limitations, and they will inform you of any extra cost for your situation.
Options for your pet's return home and memorabilia depend on your local provider. Your vet will coordinate the return of your pet’s ashes and let you know if there are additional fees for urn delivery.

This is written to share with you our personal experiences with the unfortunate necessity of saying ‘goodbye’ to our friend, companion and virtual family member of nearly 15 years, our dog, Baxter. Most of the time Baxter was a good boy...and, yes, once in a while, a bad boy...but he was always our boy. Baxter was a Shiba Inu and a handsome devil. He loved to run, jump, chase and frolic and shared hours of enjoyment with us. Since our children were all grown, Baxter became more than just a pet. He would sit at the table with us, never ate dog food, was most often fed his chicken and cheese (not mixed) by hand and loved to escape from the house, patrol the neighborhood for between 30 seconds and 5 minutes and then come running back through the garage, thru the open door to the kitchen to the safety of his own home. As it does with all pets, eventually time caught up with Baxter much too quickly. He slowed down and began to have other issues that seemed to be causing him pain. He had 14+ great years, but things had become more and more difficult for him over the past 12 months. This finally brought us to what seemed like the most painful conclusion we ever faced – it seemed we were trying to extend Baxter’s life – not as much for Baxter as for us. So the final decision was made and we investigated all the options, one of which was in-home pet euthanasia. We decided we wanted to be with him to comfort him during his final moments. We wanted him to be treated with dignity and compassion. And we wanted him to be comfortable with where he was and with those who loved him the most. And, yes, I will admit, we wanted it to be as free from anxiety and stress as possible for us as well. As I am typing this with tears in my eyes, I have to say that thanks to Dr. Dzierga and her team at CodaPet. She came to our home, sat with us and Baxter for an hour explaining the process, what we could expect and, most importantly how Baxter would be treated. I have to say the entire procedure was more comforting and less painful than either of us ever imagined. Baxter was lying with us and simply drifted off to sleep experiencing no pain nor any anxiety, nothing but comfort. We said not our ‘goodbyes’, but our ‘goodnights’ to our little friend, promising to see him again. The last image I have of Baxter was him wrapped in blanket like a baby being lovingly carried away. His eyes were closed as if he were only sleeping, content, at peace and free of pain. We recommend every pet owner consider in-home pet euthanasia.
