At-Home Pet Euthanasia
Schedule a licensed veterinarian to provide a peaceful passing for your beloved pet in the comfort of your home, surrounded by loved ones.
Initial Contact
Your vet will reach out to you prior to your appointment to answer any questions you may have and address any special circumstances or concerns.
At-Home Assessment
Your vet will make an assessment of your pet’s health and quality of life to provide guidance to ensure your decision is informed.
Pre-Medication
The veterinarian will administer an initial sedative or anesthetic to help your pet relax and become pain-free, ensuring they are comfortable and at ease.
Euthanasia
The veterinarian will first ensure your pet is fully sedated before gently administering anesthesia which will quickly slow down your pet’s respiratory system until the heart finally stops beating. In most cases, this process takes less than a minute.
Travel Fee
This reflects the cost associated with the distance a licensed vet will need to travel should your location fall outside their regular service area.
Platform Fee
A small percentage of the total supports vets with non-medical items, allowing them to spend more time caring for pets.

Pet Weight
The size of your pet determines the amount of medication needed to provide a peaceful passing as well the cremation services, if you select any.
Large Pets (over 24 lbs)
Each licensed veterinarian determines their pricing and weight limits. Large pet fees may apply.
Cremation and Keepsakes
The cost will vary based on your choice of cremation services with or without your pet's ashes returned. A variety of keepsakes are available depending on your cremation selection and vet.

Questions you may have
The total cost includes the in-home pet euthanasia service fee, any applicable travel fees, and a platform fee. Depending on your preferences, additional fees may apply for cremation services or memorial keepsakes.
During your appointment, your vet will carefully confirm your preferred aftercare option with you. If you choose cremation, your vet will manage your pet’s gentle transportation to a local crematorium. If your selected cremation service includes receiving your pet’s ashes, your vet will clearly explain the process for returning your pet's ashes and provide an estimated timeline for their return.
You have the option to have your vet respectfully transport your pet to the crematorium. Depending on your preference, your pet’s ashes can either be lovingly returned to you or respectfully spread with other pets.
Note: If you choose to have your pet’s ashes returned to you, your vet will coordinate the return of your pet’s ashes at the time of your appointment.
We allow cancellations at no fee to you for appointments canceled more than 4 hours before your start time. If you cancel your appointment less than 4 hours before your appointment time you will be subject to a cancellation fee of $100.
Your vet reserves time in their schedule exclusively for you, so we ask you to cancel as soon as you are able so that your vet may help another family in need.

If your pet passes naturally before your scheduled euthanasia appointment, you may cancel at any time prior to your vet's arrival without incurring any fees. If you'd still like assistance arranging transportation for cremation, you can request your vet provide a deceased pet pick-up and cremation services.

Yes, your vet will offer a variety of meaningful memorabilia you can purchase if you choose to request the return of your pet's ashes. After selecting your vet and preferred cremation option, you'll have the opportunity to review and choose from available keepsake options. You may also find comfort in exploring our suggestions for pet memorial ideas.
Note: You may also choose to add the memorabilia or change your mind about your choice at the time of your appointment.
In the case of wanting a private burial, if your city/county regulations allow, you can choose to bury your pet. Please check local regulations to see if this is legal in your area.
If you want to bury your pet in a cemetery, you will need to choose and make arrangements with a local pet cemetery before the euthanasia appointment. Please be sure to let your CodaPet vet know if you have planned for such a burial.

If you have a larger pet, your vet may need the help of a friend or family member. When your vet contacts you prior to your appointment, talk to them about options and limitations, and they will inform you of any extra cost for your situation.
Options for your pet's return home and memorabilia depend on your local provider. Your vet will coordinate the return of your pet’s ashes and let you know if there are additional fees for urn delivery.

I cannot praise Dr. Gary enough. He came into my home with empathy and professionalism. Euthanizing my 13 year old bulldog was one of the hardest things I've ever done. I feed my little guy Belgian chocolate while Dr. Gary administered a sedative. He barely gave him a glance as he enjoyed those chocolate treats. He passed away happy and without the stress of a vet visit. I am forever grateful. Thank you.
We really appreciated the end-of-life services of Dr. Angela De Villa and CodaPet. When our elderly cat, who had been in decline, suddenly took a sharp downturn and was clearly struggling, I was able to make a same-day appointment for at-home euthanasia with Dr. De Villa for the earliest time available. When she heard about our cat struggling, she texted me to move the appointment earlier. It was such a gift to be able to put him to sleep in our own home without additional stress. With tremendous heartache and anguish, on Thursday, June 26th, I had to say goodbye to my best friend and soul mate Kaya Sletzinger. She was a 10 year 3 month old Leonberger, who had been struggling with some health issues, most notably arthritis. If you have been through this before as a dog owner, then you know how burdensome it is. If you are a more recent dog owner, and haven’t been through this experience, it may seem unfathomable. I have been around dogs for all of my life, and I know that they’re absolutely the best things in this world. The only downside is that they don’t live long enough. Unfortunately I have experienced having to go to the veterinary hospital to put my best friend to sleep, but the much better option, is having a doctor come to your house, and doing this procedure at home. This method is called in-home pet euthanasia. I have chosen this recourse when I put my awesome Leonberger Nadja to sleep in 2013, I Love You Nadja! And just a little over a week ago, when I truly believe that The Kaya Baby and myself came to an understanding, and knew what had to be done, I called CodaPet, who put me in touch with Dr. Lauren Silvesti. Everyone who I talked with at CodaPet were so kind, respectful, and professional and my words cannot express how highly I exalt Dr. Lauren Silvesti. From our very first interaction on Wednesday morning, she was compassionate, kind, and accessible. Dr. Lauren Silvesti was willing to answer any questions that I had throughout the day, and whenever I tried to get in touch with her, she was available. Kaya was such an amazing girl who had vastly intense energy. She could be stubborn and mischievous and I loved her for it. Principally though, Kaya was loving and sensitive. She could not tolerate any tension or drama, so I did my best to make sure that she wouldn’t have to. If I had decided to take Kaya to a veterinary hospital to allow her to pass on, then there would have been a lot of added stress for her. I would never allow that to happen. Kaya was a very family oriented girl, so the only option for both of us, was to do this procedure at home. Kaya passed away in my arms while I was hugging her and talking to her. My mom and dad were also there, as well as my sister and brother in-law, along with their two dogs Luney and Ruby. They are both Kaya’s sisters, and everyone who was there loved Kaya so much. I was with my Kaya girl for the whole time, and I sincerely believe that she was at peace. Having to make the decision “when is the right time?” And having to say goodbye to all of my dogs, is by far one of the hardest things that I will have to go through in my life. Dr. Lauren Silvesti made this experience as manageable as possible for all of us. She was so professional, and from beginning to end, the procedure was conducted smoothly, effectively, and tenderly. Thank You Dr. Silvesti! I believe it meant the world to Kaya to have so many people who loved her, there with her, when she needed it most. The Kaya Baby was so full of love, and she loved everybody who was there with her also. RIP Baby Girl and Best Wishes on your next adventure! We prefer at home euthanasia for all our pets and coming from Dallas we were worried there wouldn't be these types of services in LC. I'm glad we found Dr. Dennis and CodaPet to help us with our 15 yr old gal who wasn't doing too well since she was diagnosed with stage 4 CKD.
