After a first career in the restaurant business, work as a veterinary assistant, rescue volunteering and a seat on a Humane Society board led to vet school, which Dr. Perzak calls the best decision she ever made. https://storage.googleapis.com/codapet_marketing_videos/Deborah%20Perzak-S1-Q1-Why%20I%20Became%20a%20Vet.mp4 74 2026-10-08T00:00:00+00:00 yes https://cdn.sanity.io/images/qnhvhk3s/production/615dfcc23e099e3f6ea7628ad8aaf1e4079c32c1-1080x1920.jpg Experiences That Shaped My Practice Dr. Deborah Perzak knew nothing about horses or livestock before a demanding three-month barn rotation in vet school. Caring for horses that once felt intimidating built a self-confidence that still shapes the practice, and those horses became favorite patients. https://storage.googleapis.com/codapet_marketing_videos/Deorah%20Perzak-S1-Q2-Experiences%20Shaping%20my%20Practice.mp4 49 2026-10-08T00:00:00+00:00 yes https://cdn.sanity.io/images/qnhvhk3s/production/a5689df84758f2594c73bfdce64465cd6291d9c0-1080x1920.jpg Why End-of-Life Care Matters Dr. Deborah Perzak tells the story of Phoebe, a shepherd–retriever mix cared for from puppyhood to her final goodbye at 16. It shows the years-long relationships, and the running jokes about extra chicken and cookies, that make this work matter. https://storage.googleapis.com/codapet_marketing_videos/Deborah%20Perzak-S1-Q5-Why%20This%20Matters.mp4 56 2026-10-08T00:00:00+00:00 yes https://www.codapet.com/cities/lakeside-or 2026-10-22T02:50:27+00:00 https://cdn.sanity.io/images/qnhvhk3s/production/d23effe89e30cfe75900a27ca00acdf0014e0769-1080x1920.jpg Why I Became a Vet Dr. Kimberly Campbell announced the plan to become a vet at age two, and unlike wanting to be a mermaid, nobody tried to talk Dr. Campbell out of it. Vet school's spectrum-of-care training reinforced them: meet families where they are, and walk them gently through letting go. https://storage.googleapis.com/codapet_marketing_videos/Kimberly%20Campbell-S1-Q2-Experiences%20Shaping%20my%20Practice.mp4 102 2026-10-08T00:00:00+00:00 yes https://cdn.sanity.io/images/qnhvhk3s/production/405306f2ba258c08a51c1a319f9a8d2af9e52fa5-1080x1920.jpg Why End-of-Life Care Matters Every in-home goodbye reminds Dr. Kimberly Campbell why this work matters. Six college majors later, veterinary medicine turned out to be the fulfilling path all along. https://storage.googleapis.com/codapet_marketing_videos/Mathew%20Schaefer-S1-Q1-Why%20I%20Became%20a%20Vet.mp4 43 2026-10-08T00:00:00+00:00 yes https://cdn.sanity.io/images/qnhvhk3s/production/82ff6ad3562a52be64c49af06fd3d9c6577bc45a-1080x1920.jpg Experiences That Shaped My Practice A grueling internship of 70- to 80-hour weeks made Dr. Matthew Schaefer a far better veterinarian. Good mentors made it possible, with honest feedback and reminders of why the profession is worth the dedication. https://storage.googleapis.com/codapet_marketing_videos/Mathew%20Schaefer-S1-Q2-Experiences%20Shaping%20My%20Practice.mp4 52 2026-10-08T00:00:00+00:00 yes https://cdn.sanity.io/images/qnhvhk3s/production/d7cdd77c82ce207da5da87cd9dafda3176430a2d-1080x1920.jpg Why End-of-Life Care Matters Dr. Matthew Schaefer finds daily reminders of how special this work is, whether it is laughing over a dog that got into the brownies, crying together as he and pet parent mourn a pet's passing, or sharing a hug from someone he just met. https://storage.googleapis.com/codapet_marketing_videos/Mathew%20Schaefer-S1-Q5-Why%20This%20Work%20Matters.mp4 33 2026-10-08T00:00:00+00:00 yes https://www.codapet.com/cities/carrollton-ga 2026-10-22T02:51:06+00:00 https://cdn.sanity.io/images/qnhvhk3s/production/5e7cc0201b5d0ca918ef6f931b218ae8b836873e-1080x1920.jpg Why I Became a Vet There was no single aha moment for Dr. Isobel Pribil. Becoming a vet was a choice made again and again, growing out of a lifelong wish to care for the environment, the community and animals. https://storage.googleapis.com/codapet_marketing_videos/Isobel%20Pribil-S1-Q1-Why%20I%20Became%20a%20Vet.mp4 45 2026-10-08T00:00:00+00:00 yes https://cdn.sanity.io/images/qnhvhk3s/production/380c69a34bc33074d397e1c06ebb390a7900508a-1080x1920.jpg Experiences That Shaped My Practice Dr. Isobel Pribil sees families on their best days and their worst, and aims to show up fully for both. The goal is to be a guide, a teammate and a steady constant, so no family feels alone in making decisions about their pet's care. https://storage.googleapis.com/codapet_marketing_videos/Isobel%20Pribil-S1-Q2-%20Experiences%20Shaping%20my%20Practice.mp4 44 2026-10-08T00:00:00+00:00 yes https://www.codapet.com/cities/orlando-fl 2026-10-22T02:53:33+00:00 https://cdn.sanity.io/images/qnhvhk3s/production/ca6cba36529d5246b9b1b70cce0cc4d2aad413c9-1080x1920.jpg Why I Became a Vet Dr. Amanda Buerk has never known life without animals: a Newfoundland named Nantucket was waiting on the day Dr. Buerk came home as a newborn. Growing up beside that loyal protector turned a natural affinity into a calling to care for the bond between people and their pets. https://storage.googleapis.com/codapet_marketing_videos/Amanda%20Buerk-S1-Q1-Why%20I%20Became%20a%20Vet.mp4 55 2026-10-08T00:00:00+00:00 yes https://cdn.sanity.io/images/qnhvhk3s/production/5482ab0d9c870dfdbe52fc71339b8d13d2529dff-1080x1920.jpg Experiences That Shaped My Practice Years in general practice taught Dr. Amanda Buerk that helping families say goodbye was the most meaningful part of the work, and that a busy, sterile clinic was the wrong place for it. This is her story of moving her practice into the home, so a pet's final moments can be quiet, familiar and surrounded by family. https://storage.googleapis.com/codapet_marketing_videos/Amanda%20Buerk-S1-Q2-Experiences%20Shaping%20My%20Practice.mp4 62 2026-10-08T00:00:00+00:00 yes https://cdn.sanity.io/images/qnhvhk3s/production/19ed8854c4a6d939ec91d4c09e0e0154744e1f1d-1080x1920.jpg Why End-of-Life Care Matters Seven years of in-home euthanasia have given Dr. Amanda Buerk many moments to remember. In this one, a family Dr. Buerk helped say goodbye to their beagle stops Dr. Buerk in an antique shop to say thank you and to introduce their new puppy. https://storage.googleapis.com/codapet_marketing_videos/Amanda%20Buerk-S1-Q5-Why%20This%20Work%20Matters.mp4 83 2026-10-08T00:00:00+00:00 yes https://www.codapet.com/cities/south-lake-tahoe-ca 2026-10-22T02:49:32+00:00 https://cdn.sanity.io/images/qnhvhk3s/production/976114efd51e66b33d11b1f349c402558aa307eb-1080x1920.jpg Why I Became a Vet Dogs, cats, goldfish, hamsters, a turtle, horses, and then sheep and goats at UC Davis: becoming a vet always made sense to Dr. Kyra Heirich. What also made sense was that traditional practice was never going to be the right fit. https://storage.googleapis.com/codapet_marketing_videos/Kyra%20Heirich-S1-Q1-Why%20I%20Became%20a%20Vet.mp4 45 2026-10-08T00:00:00+00:00 yes https://cdn.sanity.io/images/qnhvhk3s/production/0268d37070b84a2f3c893dde8cfd7aa0ec65a054-1080x1920.jpg Experience Shaping My Practice Practicing in many different places taught Dr. Kyra Heirich that the same case can lead three families to three different choices. Dr. Heirich explains why every option belongs on the table, and why each family deserves to be met where they are. https://storage.googleapis.com/codapet_marketing_videos/Kyra%20Heirich-S1-Q2-Experience%20Shaping%20My%20Practice.mp4 83 2026-10-08T00:00:00+00:00 yes https://cdn.sanity.io/images/qnhvhk3s/production/a03e6f14e583c2a98e1b8a4458391a89b77b58cb-1080x1920.jpg Why End-of-Life Care Matters After a family's painful past experience, Dr. Kyra Heirich set out to make their next goodbye the opposite: a balcony over the Tahoe marina, live music and a summer's day. A job at a family friend's veterinary clinic followed and lasted all the way to college. https://storage.googleapis.com/codapet_marketing_videos/Bernie%20Page-S1-Q1-Why%20i%20Became%20a%20Vet.mp4 59 2026-10-08T00:00:00+00:00 yes https://cdn.sanity.io/images/qnhvhk3s/production/4bc40f2afa39d9964e4d48e0216e0169f3363800-1080x1920.jpg Experience Shaping My Practice Before the internet and modern diagnostics, a three-generation family of veterinarians mentored a teenage Bernie Page. Dr. Page shares the lesson from the oldest of them that still guides the practice today: your eyes are your most valuable instrument. https://storage.googleapis.com/codapet_marketing_videos/Bernie%20Page-S1-Q2-Experience%20Shaping%20My%20Practice.mp4 65 2026-10-08T00:00:00+00:00 yes https://cdn.sanity.io/images/qnhvhk3s/production/ae0c08fb8f58db2580c923f9e2fbc3514e30a061-1080x1920.jpg Why End-of-Life Care Matters As a young child, Dr. Bernie Page watched a kind veterinarian guide his family through a pet's euthanasia. That first experience of life and death, handled with care, became a turning point and the reason this work matters. https://storage.googleapis.com/codapet_marketing_videos/Bernie%20Page-S1-Q5-Why%20This%20Work%20Matters.mp4 60 2026-10-08T00:00:00+00:00 yes
