Gracie is thirteen and has been my service dog for 12 years. She has helped me very much over the years. Gracie and I are just are extremely close, we love each other very much. While Gracie has extreme anxiety when I’m not with her, truth be told, I don’t like to be away from her either and I do get anxious and want to get back home to her. A couple years ago Gracie got deathly ill, she was limp in my arms, my husband (her Daddy) and me held her and kept giving her water with a dropper. I kept saying to her the same thing I always whispered to her when she was sick while rocking her slowly and gently patting her bum bum, I was whispering in her ear, “It’s ok, it’s alright, Mummy’s right here,” over and over for days and nights. I rocked her in the day Me and My little Miss Gracie slept on the floor for five nights, she was unconscious, me hugging her. On that fifth morning I was sleeping beside her, my Husband, Gracie’s Daddy, woke me and said Sherry, “look at Gracie!” she’s awake and she has her head up! She came back to good health and I told her, “Gracie you have been my service dog and have helped me your whole life, now I’m Your service person. Now, I know I’ve always taken care of my Gracie, but I just wanted her to know how much I love her. We spoil her now so much more since her near death incident, which was her third brush with death within her life. She’s one tough cookie and we are all living happy together.
